New 16G iPhone, please advise before making a mistake
Right I got a new 16G iPhone and plan to use iPlus.
As it is not activated I can only dermine the modem firmware which is 04.03.13_G by dialing *3001#12345#* => This means I have firmware 1.1.3 right ?
I would like to use iPlus 2.0 but this requries 1.1.4 firmware. So where do I start ?
1) Use iplus 1.2 to activate the phone
2) then upgrade to 1.1.4 by restoring the iphone in itunes
3) then use iplus 2.0 to jailbreak and unlock ?
Please advise before I make a mistake.
Thanks

1)Put phone in DFU.
2)Click restore in itunes and let it restore your phone to 1.1.4.
3)Use iplus.
First ever Apple product I bought : iPhone.

You don't even need DFU if it's brand new OTB... just regular restore mode will work too. Having said that, nab7007's steps will work fine.

You do NOT have it right .
I am assuming you have a win machine:
- Connect your iphone to Itunes (you will get the activation screen on Itunes)
- Put the phone in DFU mode ( the phone will turn black and Itunes will recognize the recovery mode and ask you to restore )
- Restore to 1.1.4 ( you will have to have the 1.1.4 firmware file on your PC )
- Quit Itunes and the Ituneshelper process
- use Iplus2.0b . Run Iplus -u
You're done !

He will have to put in DFU because when he plugs the phone in the computer, itunes will not give him the restore option. He will just get the "activate your phone" screen. To get the restore tab, itunes must recognize the phone in restore mode or the phone has to be activated. He will have to put phone in DFU to bypass the "activate your phone" screen.

It's been a while since I've done this, but if you turn off the phone, hold down the home button and plug in the phone, when it boots it will show the 'Connect to iTunes' screen on the phone (hence restore mode, not DFU) and iTunes will prompt you to restore the phone.
Anyone confirm?

Yes, that will work as well...although I always put in DFU mode in any case.
