New 1.12 for daughter... jailbreak & activate it? or wait for unlock?
I have a brand new 1.12 iPhone as a Xmas gift for my daughter. I wonder if I should just jailbreak it and activate it while we wait for unlock. Or should I just keep it as is and wait for the unlock in OOTB condition. Any advice? Cheers, CEB

Jailbreak it. Worst comes to worst you can always restore your ipod.

Seriously, if it is a christmas gift, try to get a turbosim and make it a real christmas gift. You won't see any software unlock before xx.xx.xxxx (insert any date in 3rd quarter 2008)

yeah one of those methods would probably do, but you'll have to cut up your current simcard for it to work,

Yes, I am aware of the stealthsim, turbosim and some other variations. My inner debate and the point I'm trying to make is that if by jailbreaking and activating today I will somehow create a difficulty when trying to unlock later?

You can always restore to factory settings.

on iTunes there is a Magic button which labels: RESTORE
if you decide to activate and jailbreak it for your daughter, you can always go back to OTB state by clicking that fantastic button....
if i were you...i would activate and jailbreak it so she would at least have some fun with it as an itouch... later youŽll just have to unlock it, or restore and do it all over again.. its really up to you...
