Default Need help unlocking virgin 1.1.1 iPhone (activated with AT&T)

    Hi All,

Here is my problem, I am AT&T customer and i have an iPhone activated with them. As i travel overseas every now and then i want to be able to switch my sim (so that i charge it to my work Tmobile sim).

I ran jailbreakme (while on 1.1.1) and then i installed anysim 1.1, and run it with my TMobile sim in it. anySIM reported that the unlock was successful so i closed anySIM and i rebooted right away.

On reboot, the iphone (without taking the tmobile sim out) and it said incorrect sim activate with itunes. I switched the sim to AT&T and this still works. So this kept me wondering if there are any other AT&T people out there like me that have successfully have unlocked their iPhones and are able to swap sims easily.

What should i do now? can anyone provide me with any guidance as to what to try next? (i tried running anysim with my AT&T card in but it said that it couldn't perform the unlock)...

Pls help, or else i guess i will consider getting one of those nice new nokia phones,.. (they come with gps too)

    thanks in advance
    macutan

    when did you do this?.
jailbreakme.com was recently updated to correct some issues. I've seen several post with similar issues on ATT iphone and it sounds like an issue with lockdownd file. You need the patched 1.1.1 lockdownd file to allow SIM swap.

    FIXED!!!

Ok, what mxweas over at IRC (#iphone@irc.osx86.hu) found out was that jailbreakme.com knew that my iphone was already activated with ATT, so it was not patching the lockdownd files ...

so what we did was restore the iphone with a different sim inside and activate it using the *#307# etc etc ending in Jailbreakme.com technique and then the sims worked (as i previously run anySIM).

Thanks to all the guys over at IRC (#iphone@irc.osx86.hu) with special to mxweas

thanks for reporting back and confirming ATT phone not getting patched lockdownd file if using appsnap. It makes sense because appsnap detects for ATT activated phone.

you'll need a program to reactivate with your new sim card.

any idea on which one to use?
Or is there a way to patch the lockdownd files so I can use the anysim without having to restore and do all the above process?
How safe is this for the next firmware?
