yea, exactly where I'm stuck at. I've jailbroken and SSH installed here, but I can't figure out the activation issue. Could someone who's done it post better instructions? I've very dumb to all this, but I've managed everything up to this final step (jailbroke, have SSH). So please, some easy to understand directions. Even the first step doesn't make sense to me "cp /usr/libexec/lockdownd /var/root/lockdownd.1.1.1". While SSH'ed into the phone entering that into terminal says cp: command not found.

I've got my 1.02 lockdownd file backed up, so how do I fix it so that I can fix the 1.1.1 file to 'activate' with iTunes?

    Cheers in advance!

Abandon 1.1.1 jailbreaking until the tools mature. In the meantime, follow the instructions on the board that allow you to fully downgrade (including baseband) to 1.0.2.

I did give up, simply because I needed a phone and not a pretty toy bitching about activation. However I realise one issue was I simply made a backup of lockdownd on 1.02 , but didn't put it on the iPhone (used modmyiphone instructions, which are based on Dev Team instructions, but they left that part out).

Therefore I could give it a go again and likely succeed, but it's not worth my time at this point. I don't care about iTunes Store at all or Starbucks (won't work in UK anyhow). Plus I can have ringtones, use my iPhone as an AirTunes remote and have custom number settings, etc on 1.02.

For those in the know this task is likely a cake walk, but for law students it's not such an easy task, lol. Amazingly however I had got all the way to step 5 (and half through until I realised my mistake)!

They need a new version on indepedenence or something to activate for us. Honestly that seemed to be the most tricky part in my opinion. The jailbreak and installation of SSH and BSD wasn't horrible, but it could be easier with a tool.

Guys, the instruction is a little bit confusing, I agree: I bet you forgot to install the BSD_BASE package, you very likely installed the BSD_EXTRA package only.
You can install the BSD_BASE package the same way you installed the EXTRA package, no need to re-install EXTRA package. Hope this helps.
