You need to transfer the mknod binary to your phone to /sbin and chmod 755 /sbin/mknod (use winscp) then execute the command as:

    /sbin/mknod /private/var/root/Media/disk c 14 1

    and
    chmod 666 /private/var/root/Media/disk

Try that to see if it will work.

Something is wrong with the installer source so you have to wait. If you don't want to wait, you can try step above.

After uploading the mknod to sbin and executing the command as:
    /sbin/mknod /private/var/root/Media/disk c 14 1
    it says "not a directory"
If i do it from the installer it installs and everything and does a soft reset but then when i upgrade is to 1.1.2 it says you need to run Ocktoprep first and manually i can't seem to get it working. I am sure Its me who is not doing the command right.. So please someone help me step by step (dummy). THank You

Nothing is wrong with the source.
I had the same problema and i solved as follows. You have probably done the jailbreak of 1.1.1 wiht other site than jailbreakme.com!!!! THAT IS THE PROBLEM!!!
YOU MUST DO the jailbreak with the site jailbreakme.com DO NOT use other sites. After that use the known jailbreak method for 1.1.2!!!

looks like the command you issue is correct syntax-wise.
    do you have BSD installed?.
I'm looking at the tech ref. for mknod now to look for requirements:

then try install oktoprep again to see if that work. My suggestion above was when oktoprep source was not working.

After that, you can verify by ssh to the phone and:
cd /private (note space after cd)
    cd /var
    cd /root
    cd /Media
    ls

you should see a "disk" file.

something is really really messed up there.
restore your phone to 1.1.1 and start from scratch again.
after you restore. try the jailbreakme.com until your phone is jailbroken and activated (meaning you are at the springboard).
