Smile Need to go to apple store for service.....help

I upgraded to 1.1.2 and unlocked my phone using anysim 1.2u and the dev team jailbreak. Now i need to go to the apple store for an unrelated problem and want to try to not just restore but also make it look like a hacking virgin. I dont mind it being locked up again, but I need help erasing all evidence of my hacking. Please help, what do I need to do to achieve this?

These are the steps... I am not going into details as all the related info is on this forum:

    1. Downgrade to 1.1.1
    2. Activate (if needed) and Jailbreak it
    3. Install "Installer" and update it
    4. In installer go to sources and add "i.unlock.no" then refresh
    5. Install and run BB downgrader found in "unlocking tools"
    6. Install and run "oneSim"
    7. Revirginize
    7. Restore again 1.1.1 or update to 1.1.2

These are IMO the necessary steps to eliminate any trace of hacking... When I turned mine in for repairs, I was specifically warned by the store manager that if the phone had any sign of unlocking or any hacking, he would not have authorized the exchange... The above method worked for me.

    good Luck!

Thanks for posting this. I am planning to do the same. but can you explain step 7...Revirginize.? Most Revirginize steps talk about a messed up 1.02 phone.

In the unlocking tools folder in installer you'll find "The Virginizer 03.x" which will restore your baseband to factory settings. It's a 1 click operation.

if you have -never- activated your iphone, then get ready with a reason...

i went there with an iphone that was never activated, the staff kept on asking me why was I able to use it without ever activating the phone or the sim card.

just keep on insisting that you bought the phone for a friend, and your friend used his own simcard. you have no clue. keep insisting and then they will help you.

yeah... but wouldn't that indicate it's been unlocked and therefore they shouldn't accept it?

It would be good to know what reasons people have created for the phones they have returned. If you use AT&T anyways, then covering up jailbreaking isnt so much a problem as you still have a valid AT&T number / iphone contract. But what reason do you give when its messed up but on something that is only noticeable beyond the activation screen - which you could only get too, by bypassing activation which you obviously cant tell them because you are using a different carrier SIM.
1st Gen. 8GB 2.0.2 Working on Vodafone (UK), Orange (UK), LUXGSM (Luxembourg) and Dialog GSM (Sri Lanka).

No. of iPhones unlocked on 1.1.3 FW: Nobody cares!
No. of iPhones unlocked on 1.1.4 FW: Nobody cares!

    :p

What if you just want to return it because you are not satisfied with it, or someone bought it for you and you realized that it is locked and you don't want it anymore. Then go back later an buy a new one with the refund. Do you think this will work?

that would work if you are having issues within 14 days of purchasing the product. Most people do not experience issues until 1 month later (etc.)

    Smile thanks

I'm going to test my fate at the apple store next week. I am having problems with my slider freezing at both unlock and answer call screen. Hopefully I can get it to freeze with the activation screen as well. I think I'm going to use the I bought it off of a friend story. I hope it works because my slider problem almost has me ready to pull out my blackberry again. Thanks for your help everyone. Check back in a week or two and I'll update as to what happened for those in similar situations.
