Unhappy Is my iPhone unlocked??? Did AnySIM Work?

How Can You Be Sure Your iPhone is Unlocked??? When I ran AnySIM it ended with errors. I tried the phone with a T-mobile SIM card and had no service. Does this mean my phone is locked and it is safe to upgrade to 1.1.1? Is there a way to tell whether or not a phone is safe to upgrade?

I'm in the exact same situation. Only I tried anysim twice, the second time it failed (saying it couldn't find files to update) it wouldn't work at all (no cell service of any type). I had to do a full restore in iTunes and then it finally started working again (still locked). My modem firmware reads as the correct 03.14.08_G version but I'm still very wary about upgrading to 1.1.1

Yep - I was going to wait until 1.1.1. was jailbroken anyway as I have lots of stuff on my phone that I'd like to be able to put back after ther inevitable wipe.

what scares me is what happens if no way around the lockout is found.

Avman, You should restore with 1.0.2 after you flash the baseband with BBupdater. Search for a guide en then run Anysim again. You can select wich firmware you want if you hold several keys (search also on forum) while pressing restore.

Also, running Anysim or any unlocking app twice is not so smart. You should have come to the forum after your first try and ask what to do.

actually, all it took to fix was a restore to 1.0.2 - I tried that before I knew about BBupdater - but it seemed to do the trick.

On the first day AnySim was released, reports about it installing but failing to unlock at the end all seemed to be followed by a "don't worry just try it again" comment - I did and it seemed to basically turn off the radio - the phone simply couldn't find ANY signal. A restore in Itunes, prompted the full download (It had done the same when I moved to 1.0.2) and a restore that seemed to take a longer than normal time, but then it automatically activated itself and I simply restored from a synced backup, re-Jailbroke with iBrikr this time and went back to normal use - scary but not deadly like upgrading to 111 could be.

    Angry

The definitive answer is.... DON'T DO IT!!!

I tried anySIM, it failed, I got over it and forgot about it.

Fast forward a few weeks, the dreaded 1.1.1 comes out and I figure my phone isn't unlocked so fuck it right???

Well, I go ahead and run it and get the dreaded your sim sucks or something error .

    I'm fucked, learn from me.
