Hi All

My iPhone is being delivered tomorrow... I'm really excited, but I don't know whether I should unlock it straight away, or whether I should wait until the new firmware comes out to see what the Dev guys come up with.

Am I ok to do the activation hack so at least I can use it as an iPod/WiFi while I wait, or does no one know yet?

It may take the Dev team sometime to crack the new firmware if at all. So you might as well go ahead and unlock now. I look forward to getting my phone on Saturday to unlock immediately.

If I do just want to activate the phone to make it work as a glorified iPod, do I just get iNdependence and click the Activate button, or are other steps involved?

I get my iPhone on Friday and I am going to unlock it right away.

We have no service here from either of the carriers mentioned so the only way to get this phone to work is by unlocking it. I don't mind waiting for installing a cracked version of 1.1.1 but I REALLY crave to use this phone - which is why i'll be sticking to 1.0.2 for the first few months, and gladly at that!!!

Yes that's it - and it fixed YouTube as well in that process so you can use it with WIFI

Well, I have a contract phone that doesn't run out until December, so I would really have only been using this with WiFi anyway... I do have an Orange Pay Monthly SIM coming, but 28 quid a month just for Internet on the go is a bit much! I'll probably wait until my contract with Three ends.

Well, either that or I'll just go crazy and unlock it tomorrow night
