Memory issue
Hi,
I'm not too sure where to place this thread but I think i had initially placed it in the wrong forum under "General". Hopefully you guys won't mind the double post.
I had recently obtained my OOB 1.1.4 8GB iphone and had proceeded to unlock it with ziphone leaving the BL untouched. After a very eventful process (which caused my sim card not being able to be detected), involving 2 restores, it is finally usable after jailbreaking/activating with ziphone 2.6b and unlocking with ziphone 2.4. However when i tried synching with itunes to transfer songs over, itunes stopped at 106 songs saying my memory is insufficient. I have minimal apps installed (the necessary ones) and the memory thermometer shows at least 4/5 of the bar greyed out.
Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.
best regards,
Drendal

The first thing I would try is another fresh DFU restore to 1.1.4. If your using a mac, Independence is a great program for unlocking without touching your bootloader. You will end up with 1.1.4 and 4_02 baseband...

THank you for your swift reply. I am currently at 1.1.4, 4.6BL and 4.02 baseband, I have not tried restoring yet. Will restoring affect my baseband?
-
Okay this is strange. I did not restore yet as I was waiting for the battery to charge and went out for dinner. When i came back and reboot the phone, plugged it into itunes, it started the usual synching and started to send some songs over. Halfway through the process it said that the hard disk could not be found or something. I unplugged and re-plugged and it transferred the rest of the songs over.
This is puzzling me, should I still restore then? All other things on the iphone are working for now.
Also, the wipe ipod function of BossTools doesnt seem to work for me. Is there something wrong?

You could also try syncing it to a different computer. It is possible that the problem is in your iTunes installation as opposed to the phone. If that does not work, then restore. Restoring will overwrite your unlocked 4_02 baseband with a fresh 4_04 baseband. You will have to run Independence or ZiPhone again to downgrade and unlock your baseband..
Why don't you just use iPlus and run 1.1.4 properly with 3.9FB bootloader?
-
Sadly i do not have another computer to sync it with right now. Apparently I tried to delete all the songs and re-import them. I faced the same error after 4-5 songs (hard disk not detected). I have sinced restored the phone, is the iphone heating up normal? It seems back to factory state now.
I do not really want a fake boot loader that's why i did not use iPlus. But now, I am considering it. If i restore after using iPlus for whatever reason, will my BL return to 4.6?

No. You would have to run a program called iphone-tools and issue two simple commands to go back to 4.6. Downgrading the bootloader is not very risky at all anymore. Just make sure you don't restore to firmwares older than 1.1.2.
Good luck..
