Default MAC Users 1.1.1 Unlock - Step by Step Instructions

There are many questions going around regarding unlocking 1.1.1 on MAC, so here is a very straightforward guide to unlock it. Good luck!

NOTE: This is for an out of the box/virgin iPhone.

    --
    You will need these programs
-iNdependence for 1.1.1 (available from many sites, but here is one that has several downloads: http://freeit4less.itsyouriphone.com/?p=downloads)
    -AnySim 1.1 (http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/site/anysim11.html)

Before starting, turn off iTunes Helper and keep your AT&T SIM card in the phone.

-Downgrade the firmware on your phone if you are using 1.1.1
    1. Download the 1.0.2 firmware from Apple
    2. Launch iNdependence
    3. Select the Firmware tab and press the Enter DFU Mode button
    4. Choose the directory where you unzipped the firmware files
    5. After you see the success image, click OK and then quit iNdependence
    6. Open iTunes. You should see a message saying that iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode... . Press the OK button.
    7. Hold down the Option key while you click the Restore button in iTunes
    8. You should then be presented with a file chooser dialog. Select the firmware file from the previous step.
    9. iTunes should then begin to restore the firmware on your phone. This will take a while.
    10. You will get a message from iTunes at the end saying that the iPhone could not be restored. This is normal (and expected). The restore actually worked fine, but the error is shown because the modem firmware could not be downgraded (which is ok).
    11. You should now see a yellow triangle on the screen of your iPhone, and iTunes telling you that you need to restore again. Don't do this!
    12. Quit iTunes and then launch iNdependence again.
    13. iNdependence will kick the phone out of recovery mode and after a few seconds you should see the main screen with Activate iPhone mes sage on it.
Congratulations! You've successfully downgraded your phone to firmware 1.0.2.

-Now that you’ve downgraded to 1.0.2, you have to special upgrade to 1.1.1 so you can activate/jailbreak your phone.
    1. First, make sure that your phone has 1.0.2 by checking if the status line at the bottom of the iNdependence window says 1.0.2.
    2. Activate your phone using iNdependence.
    3. Jailbreak your phone using iNdependence.
    4. Install SSH on your phone using iNdependence.
    5. Connect your phone to a strong WiFi network.
    6. Get the IP address for your phone by launching the Settings application on the phone, navigating to Wi-Fi and pressing the blue arrow beside the name of the Wi-Fi network that your phone is connected to.
    7. Select the Firmware tab in iNdependence and press the Pre 1.1.1 Upgrade button.
    8. Enter the IP address of the phone and the root password.
The default accounts on the phone are:

    username: root

    password: dottie

    username: mobile

    password: alpine

    9. Follow the instructions given in the dialog windows.
    10. Once you are told to upgrade using iTunes, quit iNdependence, and select the Update button in the iTunes window (not the Restore button).
    11. Wait for iTunes to finish.
    12. Quit iTunes and relaunch iNdependence. In the status bar at the bottom of the iNdependence window you should see Firmware 1.1.1.

Once you have completed this, you can use iTunes without problems.

-Install AnySIM on your iPhone using iNdependence
    1. Open the Customize tab
    2. Copy AnySIM from your computer and put it in the User Applications folder.
    3. Reboot your phone (hold Home and Power button until you see red button with Power Off)
    4. Take out the AT&T SIM card and replace it with your SIM card
    5. Turn on your phone
    6. Run AnySIM, which should be on your springboard, by clicking the icon.

CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE AN UNLOCKED iPHONE!

NOTE: Many of these steps are taken from the iNdependence Help menu, I just copied them here for reference purposes

I hope everyone please do a search before they post..
The new anysim 1.1 is for virgin 1.1.1 iphone.
1.0.2 unlocked will not work with that, you have to wait..
