mac 1.1.4 unlock: option-update or restore in itunes?
before i iplus my 1.1.2 OTB previously jailbroken phone i want to get something clear:
when i JB my 1.1.2 the 'restore' was actually option-update...and specifically NOT restore.
when i 'restore' 1.1.4 to the phone to iplus it, is it really 'restore' or is it the same 'option-update'?
thanks.

An update is what it is: An Update, you keep your stuff but add new stuff ontop of that.
A restore is erasing everything you have on your phone and restoring all factory settings, and installing new firmware.
You get it now?
For iplus to work properly you need to have a clean and fresh 1.1.4 iPhone, that is why you do a DFU restore in iTunes and not an update.

Just to add: If you are on a jailbroken 1.1.2 you could of cause use the restore via iTunes. restore is restore. DFU is the choice you have to take if you cant restore cause you brandnew iphone came with OOTB 1.1.2 or 1.1.3, iTunes wont let you do a restore. you need to be on clean 1.1.4.
There is a no-go for upgrading to 1.1.4 in any case.
