Default Lets see how many of you are smarter than ME!

    Hopefully there are many!

Ok, here is my situation. This iPhone was either a 1.0.2 or a 1.1.1 when I first got it. (obviously) I used jailbreakme.com and anysim1.1.1

Then, I gave the phone back to the owner. I get it back with no sim card in it. Its stuck at an Slide for emergency screenwith the itunes sign and the dock cable. I'm going to assume this is either the 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 activation screen right? Unlike the 1.0.2 globe background. I need to activate the iPhone, and since I can't get WinSCP to connect, I figure I will have to do jailbreakme.com again since I can't put any files on it. Do *#307# trick, but when I install AppSnapp, i get a little file called like S.tiff in the top left corner. My next thought here is that the tiff exploit is fixed? Therefore I HAVE to be in a 1.1.1+ state either unlocked with exploit bug fixed or the 1.1.2 with built in tiff exploit protection. Not sure if 1.1.2 covered this, but either way this is where I am.

How do I get back to an activated iPhone? If I put in my T-Mobile sim from my unlocked 1.0.2 it says incorrect sim on the iPhone screen so it can't still be unlocked.

EDIT: Just to add a little more reason for conversation. There was a man and his wife that i did this for. The mans iphone works fine to this second. Perfectly. His wife is gave hers back to me within 3 days.....

Not that I'm insinuating anything. ::Rolleyes

Dial *3001#12345#* at the emergency screen and check what FW version you have from there you can determine what direction you have to take....don't know if you tried that but got confused when you said you had the emergeny screen with the itunes sign and dock cable but then you could still dial *#307#. iTunes Logo and dock cable is restore mode but maybe that can help....And if you are on 1.1.2 hacktheiphone.com has 2 guides windows and mac to help you downgrade and you can choose to upgrade from there if you like. Hope that answers your question

    Ok excellent!

Under versions it says 4.02.13_G which is 1.1.2 correct? So now i'll search around and figure out how toget out of restore. I'll try both buttons at once.

Another piece of information, The iphone is saying stuff besides slide for emergency... Like Notruf, Appel d'urgence and Solo emergenze...

And when I slide, I can see their wallpaper with their kid on it or something... As well as their contacts in the address book inside pref://1f

In your case here, downgrade to 1.1.1 using DFU mode. You should get an error 1015 in windows. Use ibrickr 0.9 to get out of restore mode after booting up the phone. On any case, it will be safer for you to downgrade to 1.0.2 (you will get error 1013) and run anySIM 1.2.1u.

After that upgrade to 1.1.1, jailbreak, install bsd, install oktoprep. Upgrade to 1.1.2, jailbreak and patch lockdownd and appsuport.

Thats such a simple answer. I know all about the recovery mode in 1.0.2 but I don't think to use it here. I should stop smoking. TY!

UPDATE: Ok, so I restored back to a 1.1.1.

But jailbreakme.com just returns back to the activate iPhone screen and doesn't give me the little progress bar that I used to get... It never restarts either.

    Trying recovery mode...

My brain is only half working tonight. I was getting some error -50 when I tried the dvdjon method for some weird reason.

Anyhow. I have jailbroken the iPhone with iBrickr(should have been the first option) and I should be able to take it from here. Thanks. Hopefully for the last time.jesus.

EDIT: The next step for anyone reading this thread is to use PACAY to activate, then download AppTappInsstaller for 1.0.2 here: http://iphone.nullriver.com/beta/

    Now we're back in business!
