Cool Just a quick question about unlocking UK 1.1.2?

Hi, i am thinking of going to an APPLE STORE here in the UK and buying an iphone. I understand that i can just bring it home and unlock it for use on any O2 sim card without having to make a contract with O2 for anything, so being able to use it as a PAY AS YOU GO mobile for 269 which it costs. (hope im right so far)

just wanted to ask, if i do buy it and bring it home to TRY and unlock, and say i do something wrong and dont follow an instruction correctly by accident, could i just start fromt the beginning again as if i bought it new again if i made any mistake? wanted to know this so that theres no chance of me bricking it at my attempt of unlocking it.

Thanks for all help in advance

you should use the search function in future

you dont need to unlock the iphone for 02, simply fool the phone into thinking its been activated

    follow this guide:
    http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15849
make sure you read the entire thread as most questions in there have been answered

as long as you follow the instructions, it should be fine. youre not doing anything that will brick it etc

Well, if you buy an iPhone today, you will probably not be able to unlock it for using any SIM card. You will be able to jailbreak and activate it... (you will be able to use a O2 sim card, but thats all)
You will only jailbreak and activate, this procces is very easy and the chance of briking your phone is very low. And jailbreak/activation is ''lost'' with a iTunes restore. It mean that if you jailbreak and activate your phone, a simple restore will give you a virgin phone.

cheers for the link pgilder. i noticed it is the tutorial for MAC Users and there is a link for Windows users. IS the windows tutorials just bits that are different to the original mac tutorial becuase you are using windows? in other words follow the Mac Tutorial until theres parts that are different for Windows users which can be seen in the other tutorial?

How long does the whole process take do you think? and is it easy for a noob iphone owner if you get what i mean?

If you've been using PCs for any time whatsover its a doddle.

    Follow this tutorial http://docs.google.com/View?docid=df..._2hr6trv&pli=1

No need for lockdownd, does it automatically with jailbreak 1.1.2

    Done three already easy peasy.

yes, you need a wifi connection
you also need to be able to access it from the iphone
the instructions tell you how to get on the wifi network

Shame you missed out on the apple 23 voucher off

I had to pay full price for one from an o2 shop today, the guy behind the counter looked shocked that someone was actually buying one!
