jailbroken otb 1.1.2 used with O2, T-mobile, Orange, Tim, At&T, but HOW?
Hi, I've just jailbroken my otb 1.12 bl4.6 following this guide
http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15932
which was made for testing purposes. Anyhow, it is reported by some users that then you can use the iphone if you stick a Sim belonging to one of the carriers indicated in the title, that are the ones "supported" by the new fm (supported is not the right word, but I hope it is clear what I mean)
Now, I've just tested this with my US otb 1.1.2 and my italian Tim simcard, but it does not work, as I get the "incorrect Sim"message, "the iphone has to be used with an approved sim".
Do you think at this time we can only use Us iPhones with At&t, UK with O2, etc, or it can be used with any of the carriers indicated? In other words I was wondering if some of you who succeded in this, have an idea on how I could try to make it work with mine. Reading the posts in the thread mentioned above, some users say it is possible, while some others disagree. Thanks

The guide you found is referring to an OTB 1.1.2 UK iphone with a o2 UK sim.
You cannot use a US iphone with a UK o2 SIM.
To get it to work at the moment you will have to use a TurboSIM as no software unlock exists for an OTB 1.1.2.

You are right of course,
- I read the title of the thread either
- NO software unlock exists for otb 1.1.2
But I read the other posts of that thread too, and that's why I tried, as some users said it should work with all the carriers indicated (the iphone software is not supposed to change from country to country - possibly, at least-)
It has been confirmed by some users that uk iphones work with every O2 simcard, German iphones with every T-mobile simcards, etc, without the need of software unlocking it, so I was trying to figure out if I make it to use the iphone with an italian Tim simcard too: that's one of the 5 carriers "supported" by he new fm, being our country probably the next in which the iPhone will be sold officially.
The fact that the iphone sofware and hardware (aside from the accessories) are not different from country to country gets kind of confirmed when you turn on an otb 1.1.2 for the first time, and you get a multilanguage message.
I'm not considering the turbo SIM method at this time. Turbo sims are very expensive (around a 100 dollars), they require cutting your sim, etc...

I tried to get an UK iPhone working with T-Mobile DE - no way, "wrong sim"...

Does anyone got a technical answer why this is not working? AFAIK the firmware and the bootloader of those are identical. Where is the difference?

The base-band is region locked.

Here in US, we know if one gets an iPhone and put an AT&T SIM card not "approved"/programmed/whateve for iPhone, it does not work.
Have you tried use an official SIM on iPhone? I mean, one from T-Mobile which came with iPhone, on your UK iPhone?
I do not think this shouldn't work. And by not working then its a pointer to multiple different phone firmware/softwares around the globe...

On what bases are you saying that? I mean, this could be a possible reason, and if you are right, that means there is no way to do it, but are you just speculating or you know this for sure? Or somebody else does? Thanks

Hi everyone !
I have a question : i'm french, and i have an Orange sim (the official iPhone carrier in france). But it isn't an iPhone plan of course, it's a smaller one that costs 18€. But will my one work on an iPhone ? I don't wanna buy it and be unable to use it !
Thanks for your answers, guys

That's what i am trying to say. Here in US, if you are already an AT&T subscriber, you need to transfer your old number to new SIM, because the old AT&T SIM card DOES NOT WORK on iPhone.
