Just updated.Yes,shift works and u re able to select the file to restore.I havent actually restored though cause theres no need to do so.I m guessing that everything works just like it did with 7.5.
Just to add some feedback,1.1.1 unlocked with anysim, everything working fine(syncing, patched mecca for custom sms sounds, ringtones, etc)

Put iPhone in recovery mode using iTunes 7.6:

    - charge your iPhone
    - disconnect iPhone from computer (remove usb cable)
    - turn off iPhone completely (wait until iPhone screen turns black)

    - start iTunes 7.6
    - push and hold the home button on iPhone
    - while holding the home button connect the usb cable to iPhone
    - (iPhone will start up doing this = Apple logo)
    - continue holding the home button
    - after a while you'll see the Connect To iTunes image on the iPhone:

    - release the home button

    - iTunes will popup this window:

    - press Check, wait a little...

    - NOW iPhone is in recovery mode:

    - press OK

    - now you can use shift/option and restore whatever firmware you want using iTunes

Question Firmware 1.0.2 and iTunes 7.5 or 7.6

Hey kkdigger, you are not the only one still on 1.0.2. What iTunes version are you using right now? Most likely 7.3? I remember upgrading to 7.4/7.5 under 1.0.2 can cause problems, but I don't remember what to do to avoid/solve these problems. Maybe anyone else who does remember can shine a light on this?

I don't think there were THAT big problems. IIRC Apple changed something in mobiledevice.dll which caused iNdependence not work properly at the time. Since then, iNdepedence comes with a devtool that checks which version of iTunes is there and uses the proper dll.

    Cheers,
You do lose function of the program iToner, so if you bought that $15 USD program i suggest you not to.

iToner is able to sync but iTunes removes those ringtones immediately at the next sync

Is that the DFU mode or is it just the normal recovery mode? (I am under the impression that normal recovery mode doesn't work and this does not sound like the DFU mode)

I thought that DFU mode was the same as Recovery mode.
    Or am I wrong?

This isn't my experience at all. I have a 1.1.1 phone synched with iTunes 7.6. I just used iToner to copy a ringtone over, and iTunes neither saw it in ringtones or removed anything from the phone....Just tested the new ringtone and it works as expected.
