Default itunes 7.4.2 weird restore behavior

Yesterday I tried to install apptap on my unlocked phone and it failed and I got the connect to itunes mesage after restart. Did a restore with itunes (7.4.2) and the iphone was locked after that. All settings reset, ssh removed etc. mails, songs and movies deleted. However, after unlocking with independence T-mobile was right back without running anysim again. How is that possible?

the unlock is resistant to restore as the baseband is only flashed during an update not restore. Only updating your firmware will remove the unlock or brick your phone
