Thank you. I will try this. I found out that the iPhone is just extremly slow. It takes about 5-10 minutes till I see the home screen. What could went wrong?

Okay after holding the Home and Sleep Button iTunes recognized the phone and the yellow triangle poppep up on the iPhone. Now I can restore it. Thank you.

okie use another computer install itunes 7.4,take ur phone to recovery mode

power down your phone, power it up once u see the apple logo,

press and hold the home and power button ,keep holding it untill you see a yellow triangle, now connect your phone and let it restore,
if your phone is unlocked, jailbreak it and upload lockdownd
    to
    usr/libexec

restart you should be at springboard now

I had the same problem after unlocking i uninstalled the unlocker program phone was very slow and would not connect to iTunes. When i tried to force a restore i got " cannot resore unknown problem error 5". To fix this i reinstalled the unlocker program and all works well unless i uninstall unlocker again.

    Hi,
everybody. Excellent work team! I used to do similar stuff in the beginning of the microcomputer world, 20 years ago! Challenging eh?
OK, here is my problem. I bought two iPhones 1.0.2. Unlock them both and they now work fine. Except, I was playing during a flight with one of them and now iTunes will not recognize it.
I have download the 1.0.2 originak change, and bbuodater it and redone the lock (BTW the phone remained activated; I thought it would go back to the factory setting - connect to iTunes to continue screen and so on, but it didnt).
Anyway, when I press and hold Home and pwer and get the triange, iTunes takes to Hardware Recovery and wants to install 1.1.1 on it.
I downloaded the 1.0.2 ipsw 92MB file, and it still takes me to iTunes and still wants to install 1.1.1 on it, not the ipsw file (at least I stop after the iTunes warning message).
Questions: How do I get my phone recognized?
I read that you need to chmod 755 clockdown file? where is it?
I have deleted the files in the .../Library/Lockdown laptop directoriy also shown (the ones in the Library/, but as soon as iTunes starts up, they re-appear and it doesnt get recognized. Is this one of those (I know it all but really I know nothing messages).
How does the ipsw file get installed? Encrypted? Decryption program?
My second iPhone works fine. Is there a program to copy one iPhone to the other, even via a laptop? I could do it manually but it will take forever, and am not sure the differences in flash memory that needs to be flashed, not just copied.
    Thanks for the help
    Peter
PS: ADVICE TO ALL: NEVER DOWNLOAD ANYONE'S SOFTWARE (AT LEAST SOFTWARE WHOSE ORIGINATOR IS UNKNOWN TO YOU) ON AN IPHONE BECAUSE THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS. REMEMBER THERE IS ONLY ONE USER ON THE IPHONE, ROOT. ROOT CAN MESS UP A SYSTEM IN NO TIME.

this is the same for me but with a twist....
My itunes at work syncs all the time... my itunes at home only syncs in the morning with full charge ... usually I have to restart my apple mobile device and / or ipod svs (i have a pc w/ xp sp2 running itunes 7.3.xxxx, Free sw unlock method) before it works at home. As well, sometimes i also have to delete my \lockdown *.plist file on my home pc.

I use my work itunes to sync with calendar and contacts and my home pc to sync with music/podcasts/ photos/video. does that make a difference?

Is a full restore in order? it's pretty dicey now that 1.1.1 is out. I've taken a peak in the forums but couldn't find a solution (other than a full restore).

Please let me know if there's an easier way!!!!

    Default Full restore

    Hi,
you must have downloaded the 1.0.2 file (92MB) and then when you click restore, make sure you click the Command/Apple key while you click Restore. A pop up will open up and request you for the 1.0.2 file location. It will then go ahead and restore it to "out of the box" 1.0.2 version. Do not click update when iTunes askes you to update to 1.1.1 after you do the restore click. Better still, tick the "do not ask again" button so that Itunes never updates you to 1.1.1 unless you specifically ask for it.
    Good luck,
    Peter
