Iphone Unlock with Forced firmware?
Like alot of people i am getting my iphone this week (tomorrow for me) and obviously want to unlock the software. There are a couple of questions that i really want to check.
1.) When i get my iphone and obviously its not activated or unlocked can i check the firmware straight away?
2.) I have heard that i can download the current 1.0.2 firmware and place it somewhere (the location would be good if someone can tell me..for PC) so that when you flash the update it does not get it from the apple servers and from your local machine instead. Is this true.
3.) Once my iphone is flashed the the 1.0.2 firmware is it now when i jailbreak my iphone?
What steps do i need to ignore from this post?
or is there a simpler way to do what i need...i just do not want to get my new iphone and then accidently update to the 1.1.1 firmware that apple will realease and then screw myself
Any guidance would be greatly appriciated.
what you should do first is at least ping the baseband which requires a jailbreak so you can find out how Manu unlock attempts left. This won't require a unlock session. Having said this I would consider waiting for the out of the box unlock failures to be resolved first before trying to unlock. Perhaps even waiting for the next firmware revision is pressed so that this new issue gets into the lime light. This seems to be a bigger issue that many are down playing. The unlocking community needs to come together yet again I feel if not for the new issues bricking phones but to voice one unified opinion regarding apple's position.

What do you mean by this? what problems and failures are you reffering to?
if it is a brand new in the box iphone, follow the steps exactly. no need to ping the baseband because its still sealed. and dont skip any step. going on over 30 iphones using this method and not a single one had a problem.
