the iphone "iphon" could not be restored ?
the iphone could not be restored
that's the message which i get now.
I had a working phone 1.0.2 version unlocked. working in Europe. suddenly the phone gives the message "use an approved sim" so everything works but the phone. The only thing what i could think of was Itunes and i restored and upgraded it.
The downgraded which seems to work fine but "use an approved sim" staid on. So i tried to do the whole thing again. Now it somewhere blocks a file to be written because i get the message The iphone could not be restored because of an unknown error(1). Even with the lastest 1.1.1.
Suggestions anyone, expect buy another ?
how can i power it down p.e., because resetting with home / sleep button 10sec. doesn't work.

Why the heck did you restore AND update to FW 1.1.1?!
The unlock is "gone", you can't do much about it.
It is "normal" that the "use an approved SIM" message stays on, why didn't you check the forums before you started the whole thing again?
Use the "downgrade" method (the one with the 10 seconds...use a stopwatch and READ the instructions 100% precisely!!!) to downgrade to FW 1.0.2 and stay tight until a possible solution for the baseband shows up and/or a complete 1.1.1 unlock solution. You can't use your iPhone with FW 1.0.2 after a FW 1.1.1 downgrade but you can activate it, jailbreak it, ssh it, etc.
Good luck.

yep, i did make an big mistake to restore / update, but now it doesn't restore with the 10 seconds anymore it gives the error after 3 seconds after restoring starts with the new 1.1.1 or with the 10 sec 1.0.2 version.
so what do i do ?
i think that one of the files is in use ....(or something) so it cannot replace.

To fix the iphone cannot be restored error simply reboot your computer. Then to downgrade back to 1.02 you will need iTunes v7.3 and a copy of the 1.02 firmware on your computer. Please search the forums on how to do this

download a fresh copy of the restore image from here
http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite....8_Restore.ipsw
sometimes the image gets corrupted
using a fresh one usually fixes the problem
