iPhone could be firmware 1.1.1? Activation troubles
So I just got my iPhone today from an apple store. I called earlier and they said that their phones probably were NOT firmware 1.1.1. So I get excited, and i head straight to the store + get one. I come home, set up everything I need for the pqdvd activator thing, and after all that I actually run the damn thing, and it says "Preparing...failed". Does this mean my phone is running on fw 1.1.1? Is there any way to check? Also, could it be that the activator is just a piece of crap?
Also, can I jailbreak a device that isn't activated? >_>
Thanks in advance.

A quick browse in the unlocking subforum would provide the answer:
"You can check what firmware is preinstalled by going to the emergency call, entering *3001#12345#* then pressing "Call". Under Versions you will find what revision firmware is on the phone out of the box."
