iPhone 1.1.1 will not activate
Hi,
Ive just downgraded my new iPhone 1.1.1 to 1.0.2, activated and jailbreaked 1.0.2. When I got to the stage that you need to do the "special upgrade" to 1.1.1, it failed. so I tried to download the 1.1.1 upgrade again and it installed it without any problems. Now I am trying to activate 1.1.1 but independence says that I need to downgrade the FW.
do I need to start the whole downgrade process from the beginning?
any help would be appreciated.
thanks

I'm waiting for an answer too. I'm in exactly the same spot.

The update didnt take a long time to finish, maybe because the first one failed, so i tried again and it worked the second time, but i'm afraid that in the second update independence was not doing what it supposed to do. So now i'm stuck with an iPhone that i cant activate with independence, and i cant downgrade it. My only way out of it as far as I can see is to restore it, but maybe it will damage the iPhone.

I went back and started over. Got as far as the first time. iNdependence won't activate it. I get this error:
Error, couldn't perform jailbreak. You need to downgrade to version 1.0.2, then perform the special upgrade to 1.1.1 (see Help documentation for more details).
I don't understand. I'm following the directions. The phone has already been downgraded to 1.0.2 and upgraded again to 1.1.1.

happened to me too, for me, i just followed the instructions that iNdependence gave me and redid the whole process...i think the problem for me was that SSH wasn't installed properly...
also make sure that you activate the phone before you jail break the phone? the first time i accidently jail broke before i activated (it didn't show any error or anything like that during the process)...
anyways, i just redid everything and made sure i followed the steps properly and everythng is fine for me now...
i was doing it from a virgin 1.1.1 phone and all is good for me now.

You got this same error message?
Error, couldn't perform jailbreak. You need to downgrade to version 1.0.2, then perform the special upgrade to 1.1.1 (see Help documentation for more details).
But you see, I've done all that. iNdependence is supposed to activate the 1.1.1 phone without a problem, right?

noticed something weird
I just looked at one of the guides on how to jailbreak the iPhone, and noticed that I didnt get the following message :
Success
your phone is now ready to be upgraded to 1.1.1.
please quit iNdependence, then use itunes to do this now.
Ensure that you choose 'Update' and not 'restore' in iTunes.
maybe the problem is there? or maybe that message is gone in iNdependence 1.2.4 (the guide is for 1.2.3)

after updating to 1.1.1 i get that same message like sura:
Error, couldn't perform jailbreak. You need to downgrade to version 1.0.2, then perform the special upgrade to 1.1.1 (see Help documentation for more details).
