Incorrect Sim: Insert an unlocked and valid Sim......
I am having the biggest problems with this 1 particular iphone. It came originally with 1.0.2 and I followed the steps that I used to unlock a couple other iphones. The problem started after the anySim finished running and it said that it was unsuccesful. The error was something like: "flash successful but unlock failed"
So I did a restore in itunes to 1.0.2, and when anySim ran again it said that nothing happened as the baseband software had not changed. Following this, I did the baseband flash and then restored the software to 1.0.2 again.
At this point I'm getting the error at the "Activate iPhone, connect to iTunes" main page. The exact error is: Incorrect Sim, Insert an unlocked and valid Sim to activate iPhone. I have tried using another AT&T sim card and the same error. How should I proceed?
Would I be able to return it to the apple store and say that the phone is messed up because if you connect it to iTunes, it displays a similar message and does not allow you to proceed to the upgrade/restore/synch page.
I had all the same problems with anysim method.
follow this link, this solved everything for me in no time at all
You should have checked the forums before you reflashed the baseband.

It's normal that you get the activation screen now. Just activate with independence (with sim you are going to use, meaning not the AT&T sim) then install apptap....needed applications and anysim again. run anysim and you will be unlocked. Simple as that.
8Gb 2G iPhone
I was aware about the error that anySim makes so I tried to make calls on my T-Mobile sim and it didn't work. That is why I resorted to the bb flash. The problem that I had was the iNdependence gave me an incorrect IIED when I tried to activate it. Your tip about inserting my SIM worked and anySim got it unlocked.
akjs: thanks for the link. I use a mac to unlock so I use the following steps and so far it has worked on 8 iphones (one required some more attention)
