Default Incomming calls aren't working with SFR (France) - Any solutions?

    Hi,

I've just unlocked my iphone in Strasbourg with SFR and I've got the problem of not being able to receive any incoming calls! With other carriers (Btel and Orange), everything's fine...Anyone has a solution? I'm not the only one btw:

Salut. Borrow someone's Orange/ByTel SIM and see it it makes a difference. Odd. The SFR SIM cards that I've tested in my phone work fine. There's essentially no difference between ByTel, SFR or Orange's network, irrespective of what you read on the French forum -- don't go there for advice -- since all 3 work with the iPhone. Was thinking that it could be the version of your SIM -- is it very old? -- since with TSIM this can cause problem, but not with unlocked phones. Sorry, I'm just thinking out loud and can't think of a technical reason preventing you from receiving calls.

If you experience the same pb with the Orange/ByTel SIMs, clearly somethng has gone wrong with your unlock. Flash the BB, restore the FM and unlock the phone again.

Your network operator uses Siemens Switching, ask them to upgrade the firmware, or just complain to them that you can't receive any incoming call.

And why would the iPhone be more sensitive to Siemens Switching than any other GSM? Eriksson, Alcatel, Siemens and Nortel switches are used by nearly all MNOs around the Globe, so it seems odd -- add improbable -- that the iPhone would react this way when you consider that SFR has in excess of 10m customers in France and each of these 10m use just about every make, model of GSM out there.

whatever you can say, there is incoming calls problem with SFR, and i don't know why !

I'm in Paris, and i unlocked my iphone just after the dev team release, i've done it two time, because i was thinking that i had done something wrong, but that change nothing, i still have problems with incoming calls.

That's not all the time, sometimes people can reach me, other time not, and people who are able to reach me, aren't able to reach me at anytime.

I've tried with an Orange SIM, and there is no pb, so i just subscribed to an Orange plan. SFR isn't a bad carrier, but i'm sure there is a problem with the iphone on their network.

EDIT: Just in case, my SIM is 4 years old, and i olso tried with an 2 yo SFR SIM, same pb.

It is KNOWN problem with some providers mainly with Siemens GSM centrals. Siemens issued a fix! My provider upgraded their central and now incoming calls work !

Guys, the problem does not lie in the SWITCH the problem is with the Base Station Controllers (BSC). Cheers, CEB
