Hey has anyone noticed that incoming calls to your iphone fail the first time? I have a 1.1.2 otb that i have hactivated using the turorials. The phone woorks great for me but i have been told by my friends that the first call they try to make to my telephone fails, but then if they try it again it works. Any ideas?

This seems to be a side effect of the *SIM cards. My phone becomes unavailable to the network as soon as it goes into standby mode, when activating it again I always see that it has no reception, shortly after it displays "no service" for a few seconds and then logs back in.

During standby, I usually cannot receive calls (calling party will see "network error") but sometimes it works on the 2nd attempt.

Friends of mine do not have the problem that the phone is generally unavailable during standby, but sometimes they still need to be called twice to be reached.

Most of this has been reported in other threads as well, so far the only possible solution seems to be to try a different SIM card. (the real SIM, not the *SIM that is also placed into the phone) There is no guarantee that this will fix it though.

Are all of you talking about the US or is this an issue in other countries, too? Here in Germany i've never heard of that problem, there are many XSim iPhone owners i know.

Thanks jsalva, that thread is a real treasure - especially the links about fixing it yourself by ordering a new commboard.

I need to find out whether I really have a broken phone though, I am using a US phone in Germany with StealthSIM. I tried my friend's SIM in my phone and it seemed to work as well as my SIM with a NextSIM in somebody else's phone, where it seemed to work equally well.

When checking the logs I have occasionally seen the baseband crashing but I am unsure if the crashes were always related to being unavailable, there were too few crashes for the amount of times I let the phone go into standby.

I'll investigate a little bit more during the following days.

you can also try removing this file:

    /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/PowerManagement.bundle/com.apple.SystemPowerProfileDefaults.plist

Worked for a friend of mine and for some people in the forum.
