    Exclamation Imei 004999010640000

Okay, post here if you have this bad IMEI issue.

Personally, I've tried to downgrade/upgrade to/from 1.0.2/1.1.1 several times, flashed baseband, even virginized phone.

No matter on which firmware I am, I cannot unlock, and my IMEI just WON'T change from 00499+

Any ideas? Because I've ran out of them. Do you think the Dev Team's virginizer could fix this?

I'm REALLY desperated for a solution!!!

    Thanks in advance

Does your iPhone receive the message "...the iPhone may be damaged and cannot be activated..." when you connect to your computer?

I am trying to resurrect a friend's iPhone that has been "bastardized" (aka "virginized") several iterations and refuses to return to its original IMEI.

    Strange indeed.

For me, the search for an answer continues. . .

Hmm sometimes it does, but I think it only showed that when I was un 1.0.2 or something... I really don't remember, I've been back and forth so many times.

Right now, everything else is functional (wi-fi, syncing with iTunes, etc.) The only thing that seems unable to be changed is the IMEI.

Thanks dbknight... please let me (us) know if you find out anything... Do you reckon a Dev Team's virginizer could fix this?

Please help and thanks to those who have replied!!

I remember this happen when I reflash the baseband on 1.02. To fix this, all I did was unlock the phone using anysim, the dev team's unlocker. So I would right now try unlocking your phone under the 1.02 FW and seeing if it'll give you back your OEM IMEI number. Then from there start over. But you stated that you've tried unlocking under all the FW... Also did you made a backup of your phone before re-virgin? If you did, I believe you can use that and restore your phone. I haven't looked into the new unlocking stuff much, so might need some input on someone who knows what to do w/ the seczone backup.
