There is a tool idemocracy, A GUI that allows many iPhone-firmware related tasks to be done easily as stated on http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dgzw9xs_0gfhxns
But the guide on iseries does not use this tool.
Pls advise whether this tool is already covered under ipetools or still idemocracy is useful.
For uploading contacts and address book, can I synchronize the unlockedphone with itunes, is it recommended, whether only implication is loss of warranty or there can be some other implication also.

For 1.1.1 OTB haven't found a use for iDemocracy!
I had unlocked with the method that was on hacktheiphone.

I wanted to upload custom ringtones and I just ftp them to the phone and edit the ringtones.plist.

Everything can be done with a telnet & sftp client, but I guess its good for people that don't know how to use them and prefer a user friendly GUI
