iClarified - How to Activate and Jailbreak Your OTB 1.1.2 iPhone

Hi,

I was hoping my next tutorial would have been an unlock for the 1.1.2 OTB iPhone but it seems as though we have to wait a while more.

In the mean time I thought I would share this jailbreak/activate tutorial for those who are opting to go with TurboSIM etc. for unlock.

Again this is a really really basic tutorial with every screenshot and step along the way and thus directed towards newbies... I just tested every step along the way and now I have a great $400 dollar iPod touch

i know this is already working. the point of this tutorial is to include every click, keypress, and screenshot along the way for newbies.

i also made it extremely clear that this is not an unlock. read before posting.

do you need a AT&T sim card to jailbreak it? and for turbo sim do you need a AT&T sim card? cuz i live out of us and wanted to know...thank you

Hi dude.

There are so many posts about 1.1.2 and DOs and DON'Ts that newbies like me get really confused about what can we do to our brand new iPhones. I wasn't sure about downgrading an out of the box 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 to jailbreak it and this tutorial really explained everything altogether.

Slevytam, thank you for thinking about us newbies. I stand with the Windows people, a tutorial dedicated to us would be nice.

thanks for the feedback guys, i really appreciate it. i'll do a windows version since it seems we have a lot of windows users. (tonight or tomorrow at the latest).

i want to do a turboSIM tutorial but am not going to do one until I can get one myself or someone is willing to do detailed steps + photographs with me.

to bad they are so hard to get now...

question for slevytam:
i have an at&t account that'll be up for renewal in july 08. i wanted to get an iphone now, but didnt want my contract to get extended now - i'd rather wait for it to expire in july, so i can get a new connection later (and hopefully some other free phone

). anyways - if i activate and jailbreak using the method described here (or some other) - for an OTB 1.1.2 iPhone, is it possible to use my existing ATT card (obviously without Visual Voicemail and the other stuff)? Or the iPhone can be used only as an iPod touch?
