What's up with all this judging and hating around here? Did you even read the post? He (slevytam) never even once claimed to know of a way to unlock 1.1.2, nor did he imply it. He simply posted a tutorial (an excellent one at that) on how to ACTIVATE and JAILBREAK an OTB 1.1.2. Seeing as how there are a million of these around, one could ask why slevytam took his time to write another one. Well, look at it, it's clear, concise and full of pictures that document the process FULLY. This tutorial, my friend, is the way it's supposed to be written. It's excellent and sets the bar for documenting iPhone hacking.

And we will stay in your debt. Thank you VERY much for this. Event though I might already know every step of the way, it's still an imaculate reference and I appreciate the hours you must have put into this! Don't bother with these off brand jacks that don't even care to read further than the thread title. Again, superb job, thank you very much!

thanks macke, im really grateful for your support. i'll do my best to keep em coming

nash_d, i think that you might be able to do that. you'd need to use the sim that came with the iphone though. try calling at&t and tell them u broke ur SIM but have another at&t one. ask them to transfer your number to the new sim. maybe it will work...

my understanding of the process was - if i activate using their supplied sim, and i provide them my normal ATT number, my original ATT sim gets deactivated and the iPhone sim gets activated with my ATT number. (a friend of mine did this, so I know for a fact it happens this way). Alternatively, could using a prepaid goPhone card help?

That looks like a very nice guide indeed.

I have my TurboSim but not yet my iPhone - it's in the post as we speak. Once it has arrived I will use this guide to do the activation and jailbreak.

Nice work, thanks for the effort you have put into this

nash_d, unfortunately im not in the states so I really couldn't tell you want would happen if you did that. logically, i would think att&t would automatically add 2 years to your account but who knows... all i can tell you is that you need two get your number on the sim that came with the iphone. good luck.

Thank you very much for the clear easy to follow tutorial

however i think you should make it clear for all the people becoming confused that if you follow your tutorial, it patches the lockdown file meaning you can put in a sim of the carrier and it should work as a phone as well

for example an AT&T 1.1.2 iphone 4.6 bootloader, do your tutorial you should be able to take out the sim supplied and put in a existing AT&T pre pay or post pay sim !!1

this would be the same in UK with O2 any existing sim can be used if you follow tutorials just like yours !!!

so if you could make that clear so people dont get confused with what the tutorial can and cant do

remember this is not an unlock it is just a way to bypass the activation and use another sim of the same carrier as you brought the phone with. works with all sims 3g and 2g !!1

nash, this might be just what i was looking for - has anyboady tried their existing ATT sim with an OTB 1.1.2 jailbroken and factory "hactivated" iPhone - prepay or postpay? what about the data access though? does this extend your ATT contract or leaves it as it is?
