Default how to upgrade 1st gen iPhone from 1.1.4 to the current version 2.x firmware?

    Hi -

My iPhone is on v1.1.4 with the baseband as 04.03.13_G instead of 04.04.05_G & it is working fine so far.

I want to upgrade it to the current release i.e. 2.x firmware. How can i do that & with what tool? Which tool is safe for me to go ahead with & does it matter if the baseband remains same?
Note: ZiPhone tool has been used earlier on this phone. So suggest me the safe steps to do upgrade.

Also, how can i find out what is the current BL version on my phone?

    Thanks

Check iClarified / BigBoss for detailed tutorials including nice pictures. You can go directly to 2.0.2, no hassle. Good luck

No problem. If you go to the 2.0.2 FW the BB will be updated and everything will be fine. Don't worry, You can go directly to 2.0.2, no hassle. Read my post again

    vbhamb,
I remember this is the phone you had problem. I believe it was 1011 and you finally got it fixed by a IC (chip) replacement. I don't know who did it for you but hopefully he did it correctly. Is your IMEI matches the code printed on the back of your iphone ?

You now have 1.1.4 running with a 1.1.3 Baseband.
I don't know who did your unlock but this is very weird.
We never had a native 1.1.3 unlock.

Basically fw 1.1.3 was very short lived and the way to put it on was a soft update and you end up with a 1.1.3 fw+1.1.2 Baseband.

I've seen 1.1.4 fw running with a 1.1.2 baseband but never see one like yours.

I cannot tell you if the phone is safe or not. Most likely it is safe but I am not 100% sure.

If this is my phone, I would at least do a DFU restore with 1.1.4 and use iLiberty to J/A/U it first. IF all is working fine at 1.1.4 with matching baseband then I say it is safe to go to 2.0.2

To find out the original bootloader version, you need to supply the first 6 digit of your phone here and we can tell you.

dtube you are correct. you've known my fon's problem v well. Due to some hardware replacement, my fon did start working but talking about IMEI, its different than what is printed at the back. (I don't think so that matters if the phone is working fine)

what first 6 digit do you want? are you asking IMEI's 6 digits? If yes, the one what shows in my fon is:
    <IMEI removed ....>
    serial number: 7S7375.....

talking about 2.x firmware, I heard that 2.0.1 is still safe than 2.0.2 because later had some security issues. I'm not sure about it but if I compare 1.1.4 with 2.0.1/2.0.2, which one is most stable & what about the installer apps (what we've on 1.1.4)? I think on 2.x firmware, Cydia has taken charge, right? How user friendly is it? Do we get better apps than installer on 2.x?
I mean any pros & cons with respect to 3rd party apps if going from 1.1.4 to 2.0.1/2.0.2? Or any app hangs?
