how to install "installer.app" into dev jailbreak 1.1.1 iphone??
Hi guys im stuck in part 6.2 of the dev team jailbreaking i dont know how to get the M68AP.plist into my computer and if i know that i dont know either what to do with that .plist or how to edit it.. also i dont know how to install apps into the jailbreak 1.1.1 iphone not even the "installer.app" please if someone who has done all this could give me any help with detail steps!
thanks in advance
You need to setup iPHUC inorder to use the getfile and putfile command. Or setup sftp which I have yet to be successful at.
but do you know the commands i need to use? i have succed in both ssh and iphuc ...but i can ssh only trough terminal not trough an FTP client
Yeah, that part was kind of a pain.
Here's what I did:
[note: this is after I had ssh and all the BSD stuff working]
[oh, this is on a Mac, by the way]
1) First, I installed Installer.app on my iPhone using scp.
To do this, left-click on AppTapp Installer, select "Show Package Contents", and navigate into Contents->Resources.
In that folder, you'll find Installer.app, which might look like an application with a cross-out circle/slash thingy on top of it. That's the iPhone application.
Drag Installer.app onto your desktop.
From the terminal, enter this:
scp -rp ~/Desktop/Installer.app root@[your iphone's IP address]:/Applications
where [your iphone's IP address] is the IP address of your phone; something like 192.168.0.9
(the -rp flag on scp means 'recursive' and 'preserve permissions', by the way, if you're unfamiliar with Unix)
2) Add Installer.app to the M68AP.plist file.
To do this, I:
a. Copied the M68AP.plist file from my phone to my computer
b. Used a plist editor to edit the file
c. Copied it back onto the phone
It's a binary file, so you can't edit it with a text editor. If you have the Apple Developer's Kit installed, it has a plist editor built-in (the dev kit is on the install disk which comes with OS X)
Like the instructions for the hack say, all you need to do is add an entry before the iTunes Music Store entry in that plist. Just make a new key/value pair which follows the existing format of the plist but points to Installer.app.
Use scp to copy the file back and forth between your phone and the computer.
That's about it!
