    Default How the hell do you get an iPhone in recovery mode??

    I've just unpackaged my new iPhone, read the instructions to:

    Press home and sleep at the same time for 10 seconds, then when the screen goes black, let go of sleep, and keep home pressed for another 10 seconds... then connect to iTunes.

    Is that right?

    How do I know I'm in recovery mode?

    Because the screen goes black after about 5 seconds and when I do connect it to iTunes it just goes through the activation process...

    Please someone help!

    you have to keep both buttons pressed for 10 seconds

    Got it now anyway, had to connect it to the computer at the same time.
