I unlocked my iphone and I can't seem to get the internet to work when using T-mobile (I am in the US.) The progress bar starts, but nothing loads. Is there a setting I need to change?

Try "EDGE settings"

SETTINGS>GENERAL>NETWORK>EDGE internet2.voicestream.com

User and pass blank.

If you unlocked 1.1.1 look in installer for EDGE settings fix. It will keep this setting each time the phone is turned off.

Does it matter if it is a T-Mobile prepaid?

You need both the correct EDGE setting, PLUS you have to sign up for an internet plan. There is Total Interned for 19.99, which includes free access at Starbuks, or the 5.99 TWeb plan.

If you can add the 5.99 Tmobile Web plan to your prepaid card, then you can use the Installer to load the patch, called TMobile TZones Hack, that makes that plan work. It will configure your edge settings for you.

I also agree that it is handy to use Installer to add the EDGE setting fix, so you can actually look at your edge settings and confirm that they are set to wap.voicestream.com

To add Tmobile web, I go to MyTmobile online.. does your prepaid SIM allow you to add a plan online.. otherwise, call 611 and have them do it..

and when they ask you what kind of phone you have, say a Tmobile DASH, or set that in your online profile, so that internet plans will be available to add to your plan..

Ive been wondering if a prepaid card can add internet.. let us know how it goes
