how does the iphone upgrade to a new firmware?
Hi,
my girlfirend is going to the US this week and she is going to bring me back an iphone (yuuupi) hopefully with firmware 1.1.1
if that is the case I obviusly won't want to upgrade to the new 1.1.2 in case it turn my iphone into a brick(no literally eheh)
anyway I was wondering, how can I tell my iphone to not upgrade to the new firmware? how does the new firmare install? manually? through itunes? through wi-fi?? I see some tutorials showing that when deciding to install a new app a message appears saying: new installer update available. is that a firmware upgrade too?
thx for ur help

when you connect your phone itunes automatically detects it shows 2 buttons. one to restore the phone and the other one is to update the firmare if needed. so just make sure you dont press the death button by mistake. have fun with your phone

The iPhone update is done through iTunes.
Just go into preferences in iTunes and turn off automatic updates.
The thing is, even if you have automatic updates turned on iTunes currently still asks you if you want to update. (safer to turn off auto updates though).
