How about a sub-forum?

IMHO, this precious forum is becoming a total mess

Too many people are starting new threads asking questions that have been exhaustively answered numerous times.

Now, active "search" button users like me are having a hard time sorting through incredible amount of trash threads.

I understand that this website needs the hits, clicks and banner views to survive, but, is there a way to create a sub-forum for more "serious" users??

I am personally willing to contribute monetarily for a membership to this forum with a "cleaner" environment. I believe this can filter serious active members from those that accidentally found this forum through Google while looking for the AT&T forum...

In conclusion, why not start a members only sub-forum where, let's say, a mere $5 gets noobs in and where seasoned members can enjoy free access (i.e. 100+ posts or 5+ rep points).

This is just an idea but I am sure admins can develop it into something profitable for both Hackintosh and its more dedicated members...

I think that's a bit too extreme. Hackintosh is a free service and in my opinion it should stay that way. There's all these posts because the state of the iPhone community. All these people with OTB 1.1.2. unable to do anything with their large investment. It's only natural that it happens I suppose. I would suggest a more strict policy on these ignorant posts. The community has exploded since the iPhone also and there's most likely a shortage of moderators too. So far the only mod I've seen that has been really active is Number_41. I'm sure it must be frustrating seeing the same posts over again. The best we can do is stop the posts by not replying to them and hope they all use the damn search feature.

here we have UNLOCKING which is a real mess... we never know if it's activation or desimlock...

why not do one part DESIMLOCK, and an other ACTIVATION?

This is one of the reasons why i said in one of the posts to lock rather than delete threads. If someone with extreme discipline (i'm to beleive it takes that in today's "me first" world) even *does* make a search before posting, and doesn't find something, they'll post it, when in fact a thread about it was deleted just the day before. Of course, this would require that people would actually *use* search (which more often than not is not the case, i know), but still i think it would be better than deleting them. In fact i think that in the last few days the deleting has calmed down a bit, but still...

From there to make your own "Private Elite Cookshop", i don't see how it would have it's place here, which has always been open to everybody ?

I suppose you could always take action and make one elsewhere and then incite those worthy in your eyes to join your private club, but i don't see one coming up here...

But... i *could* imagine a "sub" SCAM / FAKE folder for all those locked threads so that they'd be exposed to eternity while not cluttering the regular forum (but the problem stays : how make people see them *first thing* when they arrive ?)...
