    1) Does the iPhone ring when someone tries to call, but you just can't hear them?
    - I had this sometimes after I've been using the headphones. To fix I have to plug in the headphones, play a song, turn off the iPhone with the headphones connected, unplug the headphones, then finally turn on the iPhone again.

    2) When someone tries to call you does your signal bars disappear (at the time the call should connect)?
    - I've seen this before on an iPhone I upgraded to 1.1.1. The problem was basically a corrupt baseband. I had to downgrade to 1.0.2 and re-flash the baseband, then finally re-upgrade to 1.1.1 again. Everything worked fine.

Also make sure "Show My Caller ID" is set to ON.

Not sure if these are the same as yours, just my experiences.

    ty for your reply,
"Show My Caller ID" is set to ON.
my signal bars won't disappear at the time the call should connect,

I 'm going to to verginized my phone, downgrade to 1.0.2 to test it.

many of my friends had the same problem like this (not me), they just restored the phone reactivated it, and its done. and another one got similar problem, he can answer a call, but there won't be sound, he gotta press the mute button twice to enable the loudspeaker. i'm not quite familiar with the term revirginize which people use for restoring iphone back to its original condition. if we are able to reverginize iPhone, will Apple still be able to find out taht we have unlocked the phone before? or will the guarantee still void?

the iphone doesnt deactivate call forwarding properly for all carriers, i wouldnt seggest using the option atall for this reason. what you need to do is call your carrier and ask for the code to set everything back to normal.
the other phone you tried worked fine because it was from your carrier and deactivates it properly, iphone seems to have issues with keeping things in memory and keeps setting it to on when it fails to deactivate it.
