Default Help needed - 1.1.2 to 1.0.2 back to 1.1.1

I have an OTB 1.1.2 iPhone that crashed quite a bit and would sometimes just go into recovery mode after crashing. The last time I went to restore to 1.1.1 it would not jailbreak using jailbreakme.com so I downgraded to 1.0.2 and used Independence to activate and jailbreak the phone. The phone seems to be stable at that firmware.

I would like to now try and upgrade back to 1.1.1 so that I can eventually get back to 1.1.2 (or maybe even 1.1.3). I need to know the best way to upgrade. When I use iTunes (option-upgrade and choose the 1.1.1 firmware) jailbreakme.com does not work. Any help with this would be appreciated.

    pab,
this has been discussed at length many times. References to this also in the sticky at top by N_41.

What baseband version are you at now? You downgrade the firmware/OS but did not downgrade baseband right?.
let me know and hopefully and can guide you to the right info.

    - put phone in DFU mode by:
    - connect phone to itune (i use version 7.4.3), run itunes, hold down power+home at same time, phone will restart, when you see the apple, let go of power and continue to hold home. Itunes will detect phone in recovery mode.

    - On PC, select firmware 1.1.1 (hold down shift click restore)
    - let it restore
    - when done, jailbreak phone using the #*307# method to add url and turn on wifi. open safari and go to http://i.unlock.no (yes ... this is more reliable than jailbreakme.com). Before you open safari, connect phone and run itunes and leave it connected. It's more reliable when you JB like this ...
    - when phone finish JB, go to installer, install BSD, community sources.
    - download oktoprep and run it.
    - shift click update and select 1.1.2 to update (not restore)
    - when done JB using jailbreak1.1.2 java stuff.
    - Finish.

For complete info and detail. goto i.unlock.no and hackthatiphone.com to read.....

I'm pretty much having the same problems.

First, I'm on a mac and I have iTunes 7.5.

I put the phone in DFU mode and click option-restore to restore 1.1.1.

It restores and gives me the 1015 error.

I quit iTunes and and launch Independence to take the phone out of recovery mode.

I then did the *#307# thing and added the prefs and i.unlock urls.

Turned on wifi, opened iTunes, got the Welcome to Your new iPhone screen in iTunes. Dialed 0 Accept - Hold - Decline and then launched Safari.

I got the message on the i.unlock to jailbreak the phone, clicked on it, it started to do something and then the phone crashed.

Restarted the phone, dialed 0 etc. and the call failed. So I was back to where I started.

Tried it again. Got to i.unlock.no, clicked on the jailbreak and the phone restarted and went to a black screen with the apple logo and has stayed there for a number of minutes (maybe five). I figure that it should take the normal time to start up? Left it alone and it restarted after waiting for about ten minutes with a black screen and the apple logo. It then restarted a third time. It seems that if I leave it alone it will do that all night so guess that I will start over again.

    pab,
    That is really strange.
I just jailbroke my phone here. I used the i.unlock.no. Got to that page, tab on the screen to jailbreak. Immediately, it will go back to the activation screen (with the earth picture), then you see the spinning circle ... about 10-15 sec later, the phone reboot. Voila...
The nice thing with i.unlock.no is it puts installer 3.0B10 (latest) on the phone for you.

Try again from scratch is the only thing I can suggest.
Lastly, if that does not work then use CARNAVAL 0.8 - it never fail on me.
