I got my new iphone today (firmware 1.0.2) and gone through the steps on this web site

every thing went well except that after Sliding the unlock thing on AnySim (1.02) i got the messege that says the flash succeeded but the unlocking failed. which i understand is OK in most cases.

i tried to make a phone call but wasn't successful so i soft restarted the phone (red slide thing).

after that i was stuck on the Apple logo screen.

i held the sleep/weak and home button and connected to iTuens to restore.

and i got a message from iTunes:

iphone could not be restored. an unknown error occurred (6)

and thats it, i cant do any thing with the phone!!

I had the above error message as well. I rebooted my PC and tried again and it worked.

restart the phone a few more times and see, but have u taken out the at&t sim and replaced with your sim ?

if this does not work use ibrickr and install unlock-fast ( the other unlock tool ) and run that

PLEASE help,

Error (6) is, according to other threads (search!) physical error in Flash. So repeating restore a few times MIGHT work, but it is in no way guaranteed. Anyways, if you have the option, relock (search "virginize") and return it to apple. Or after you try it few times and it never ever comes back alive (so that apple cannot tell that you unlocked), return as well.
If you're few thousand miles from US (like I am) and this happens to you... tough luck, you risked buying hardware without warranty and got burned.
