you can't be sure of it, but likely the iPhones currently available in stores still have the old firmware. But you have no garuantee

Easiest way to tell is by checking whether the image on box shows more than 16 icons in total.

New firmware has 17 icons in total and we want see to whether the box still shows 16 iconed iphone from previous firmware visions or 17 icons.

An image would be great.

so if there are 17 icons then it is a 1.1.1?
if there are 16 means i can open my iphone and its 1.02?
