    the restore will never finish you will get error 1015 (in itunes)... this is normal. If you are on a mac, use Independence to kick the phone out of restore mode. If you are on windows, use Ibrickr or the apptapp installer to kick it out of restore.... The reason why itunes cant finish the restore is that it cant flash the baseband with an older baseband... therefore it says failed.

    Also, remember that 1.1.1 has two restore modes... you need to hold the power and home button at startup and release the power button after 10 seconds to enter the restore mode from where you can restore to 1.0.2... if you use the other restore mode in 1.1.1 to restore to 1.0.2 (The one with the cable and the itunes logo), it will not work.

    If you are looking for help, you must try and search, as you are not the only one to have met this problem.

    To make a successful restore, you must enter your iPhone in DFU mode (use the search to find several threads related to DFU).
