I want to get this straight about the restore and unlock process. Are you SURE I should use my AT&T SIM to do that? Some users say "Restore and unlock with the Rogers SIM." And still others say "Restore and activate with AT&T SIM, then unlock with the Rogers SIM.

    Thanks.
Out of the box I used my ATT SIM to do everything. I am not a guru on this so I wont answer. Hopefully you get this to work.

    Default Rogers Sim

    Hey,

Ok first of all... rogers does have pay as you go service only on sim cards... all TDMA is existing customers only... ok now thats out of the way...

If your sim card has truley been activated and you are getting a no service error msg after the unlocking ... well i had the same problem with an 8 gig iphone but my error was because I used a pc and mac to do the unlocking...

anyhow to fix the error you have to update the baseband ... i found it on google... looking for no service iphone unlocking...

you will have to download the epp file for the baseband and run a few commands and restart the phone and you'll be up and running... i don't remember the website exactly but the fix is out there.. there is nothing wrong with the sim card and no reason to call rogers because they can't help you with this issue because there are no settings that you have to input to make the phone work with rogers other then the unlocking. ok i hope i don't get in to trouble but here is the link to the fix...

here is what the thread says to do:

well, i will post the step.. it work for SOFTWARE and HARDWARE BRICK, it work for me and another ppl using Orion007 method for upload file to baseband.

when you have NO SERVICE and u have a succesfully unlock follow this:

for request of the people download link: http://**********.com/files/55123388/eepfiles.zip.html

be carefull, file 3.12 is for firmware 1.0.0 and 3.14 for firmware 1.0.1 and 1.0.2
u need to use the file who correspond to your firmware.

1 first unload commcenter with this command
    launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist

    2.enter to minicom and type
    AT+CLCK="PN",0,"00000000"
    it say error.... is OK!!

3.type AT+CLCK="PN",2 it say 0, (this show u have unlocked iphone)

    4. run bbupdater -v

5.upload to the baseband this file ICE03.14.08_G.eep using this command
    bbupdater -e ICE03.14.08_G.eep

6.restart the iphone and load the commcenter with this command
    launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist

7.enjoy your unbricked iphone!!!... and unlocked of course!

Orion007 Pd: You get the .eep file from the apple 1.0.2 full restore image

pd2: if u have this error

Error: Baseband bootloader is too old; update to 1.8 or later and try again

    follow this step:
bbupdater -f ICE03.14.08_G.fls (it locks again the iphone)
    restore....
when u have the screen activation with the world back and it say incorrect sim but u have the at&t sim dont worry, activate it and do all the steps for unlock it again...

    when u have it unlocked
    follow the guide unbricked iphone

IF U DONT HAVE THIS ERROR DONT UPLOAD THE FLS BECAUSE IT LOCK THE IPHONE AGAIN.

and ppl remember LOAD THE COMMCENTER if u dont do it u NEVER have signal even is u reboot the iphone u need to load because it dont load automatically.

THANKS TO THE DEV TEAM, GEOHOT, ORION007 AND ALL THE PEOPLE IN UNDERNET #IPHONE.UNLOCK
have any questions msg... and i only registered to asnwer this question lol cuz i had the same problem and it was a scary one because it wasn't my phone =)

Yes, I had firmware 1.0.2 on board; still do, never "upgraded" to firmware 1.1.1. The unlock process went as described in the instructions, and after the unlock, I had access to all iPhone functions that didn't require a phone account.

PROBLEM: AFter unlocking the phone, I went to a Rogers store in Nova Scotia and bought a pay-as-you-go card. Then I waited for the Rogers icon to appear on my iPhone and I'm still waiting. Initially there was a problem with Rogers' online card activation process. I now have that straightened out, and have the phone number assigned to me by Rogers and a security access number. What I still don't have is a Rogers signal. I know the signal is strong enough where I am, because my brother's AT&T iPhone picks up Rogers here just fine. So, HELP!

I know 1000's of Canadians successfully use their iPhones with Rogers. My question is how? I thought a pay-as-you-go card would at least get me phone operation (I don't care about Rogers data access--I get all I need via various WI-FI networks).

I'm stumped and I know if I CALL Rogers and mention my iPhone, they'll throw up their hands and tell me it's impossible. I'd appreciate suggestions about what I should do next. If I take my Rogers SIM to a Rogers store, will they be able to slip it into another brand of phone to see if the SIM is working? Thanks in advance for advice.

If not on a Mac, pity. I guess iBrickr + PACAY.

    1. Put your Rogers SIM in.
    2. Deactivate your phone.
    3. Reactivate your phone.

No need to restore. I do this every time I want to swap SIMs between AT&T and/or Rogers.
This sounds very promising, parasubvert, especially since I'm an Intel Mac user! Thanks. I'll post my results.

Thanks, lighter. I hate to admit it, but this isn't my iPhone either. I appreciate your sending me to the thread in question, but screwing up my buddy's laptop as well as her iPhone seems way too likely with all these command-line commands. Plus the commands are ambiguous to someone who doesn't know the convention. Step 3, For example: type AT+CLCK="PN",2 it say 0, (this show u have unlocked iphone)

Does that mean I should type AT+CLCK="PN" ??
    Or AT+CLCK="PN",2 ??
Or AT+CLCK= followed immediately by whatever "PN" stands for ??

Just knowing that a Rogers pay-as-you-go SIM card does indeed work with the iPhone is tremendously helpful.

    Thanks.
