Default [Help 1.1.4]Unlock if on AT&T?

ok so i have a really quick question. Do you need to unlock an iphone if you are just using it on the att network? I would rather not unlock it if i didnt need to. Basically my friend got an iphone and i unlocked it for her and she is having problems with it syncing with her computer. I am going to restore it so she can get a new one, but when she gets the new one what do i do?
Can i just use ilibery and jailbreak and activate or do i need to unlock it? Also she has one of the old cingular sim cards, could that affect anything?

if you are a legit AT&T user and you dont want to use your iphone with any other carrier you can just jailbreak using iliberty no need for unlock

what jsalva means is that if you have a legit iPhone account with ATT then you only need to jailbreak.
If you have a non - iPhone account then you need to jailbreak and activate.
