So, I read that the new 4.6 BL S/W unlock didn't touch the seczone, but the IPSF style unlock on BL3.9 does.

What's the differences between the 2 in terms of future update resistance?

Also, could BL3.9 also have unlock without touching the seczone as well?

geo's 4.6 = anysim like unlock
geo's 3.9 = ipsf like unlock

only ipsf is update/restore resistant
the last question is obvious... use anysim... it doesn't touch your seczone

Read the blog again, this was a theortical future direction for BL4.6.... I think the current work is based on the ignore MNC checks, like AnySim 1.1.x... can anyone confirm?

I don't wanna hijack this thread but I have some information that may or may not be known or relevant. I have a 1.1.2(OTB) which i unlocked using geohots software unlock. I preformed the unlock with the phone at 1.1.2 JB state. I've since restored the phone to 1.1.1 in order to re jailbreak and upgrade to 1.1.2 then onto the dev teams 1.1.3. Now this is the bit that may or may not be common knowledge.......

the software unlock remained in place!?!?

Would that be normal/expected to happen?

Yes, since "soft update" doesn't upgrade the baseband. Your baseband v. is still 04.02.13.

If you go 1.1.3 the BB will be 04.03.13, and the unlock will be gone...
