Fully unlocked iPhone with Ziphone WITHOUT USING BOOTLOADER DOWNGRADE!
Hey everyone,
My iphone stopped being able to SMS yesterday and gave me a "Error Sending Message". So after doing some research I found out it has to do with the Xsim I had in my phone (1.1.2 OTB). I also had another Sealth Sim that I used, but this didnt work either.
Now, last week I decided to use Ziphone 2.5c to uprgade to 1.1.4. I was very skeptical after reading everything bad on this forum about this program! Anyway, I decided to take the "safe" route and use the 'advanced options' tag in Ziphone (on my Mac), and just ticked 'Jailbreak', 'Activate iPhone' and 'Unlock Phone for any Carrier' and did not use the last 2 options which relate to bootlader downgrades etc. So I tought i still had to use my xSim to use my phone (and it worked fine for 4 days like this), but then when i encountered this SMS error yesterday and started taking in & out my SIM card countless times (to swop between my Sealth SIM and my XSIM). I gave up and left my plain SIM in and suddenly it started showing my carrier in the left corner. I couldnt believe it!
Any input? Did Ziphone fully unlock and downgarde my bootloader, even though i did not use the 'Do it all' option and used the 'Advanced' tab (without the bootloader downgrade option)?
Thanks Guys
Tim

Isn't it a standard routine with ziphone -u that it checks the BL, and if it's 4.6 it uses the Gunlock instead of the downgrade-bootloader-anysim variety?
What baseband (modem) firmware version do you have? (If it's a gunlock, you'll have 04.02.13; if it's something new, 04.04.05). See Settings...General...About, or the Hardware info tool you installed.
iPhone 3GS / 3.1.2 JB (PwnageTool) / 04.26.08 carrier-locked, Carrier Logo Fixer / Cydia / 1000 posts on Hackint0sh
Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.
Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
* on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
* on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

Hi ..Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what is the story with the 04.02.13?Is this the only baseband that can be unlocked with bootloader 4.6? Does the others need 3.9 and why are there tools that downgrade the baseband? Would appreciate if you can shed some light on this
Thanks in advance

1. Yes. 2. Therefore, yes. 3. That's why.

Yes. If you have 4.6 you need to downgrade the baseband to 04.02.13.
I still don't see what new in what is described here. If you don't choose to downgrade your bootloader to 3.9 Ziphone WILL downgrade your baseband. Everything should work fine btw except Google Maps locate me and even that one can be made working .... so ...
But why doing the job only half way when we can do it correctly :-) Use Iplus 2.0 and get a fully working phone with latest firmware and baseband
