Just an idea but once the french firmware is out and since it will be unlocked by law can't we just restore our phones with it and then jailbreak it to have a free working phone?

there is nothing special/different in the french fw

Would you please follow the "T-Mobile Germany" thread, it will answer a lot of your questions (geez...I wish you guys would learn to READ first, THEN start a new thread).
The firmware is the SAME on all iPhones, even the baseband fw. The bootloader is different but the unlock apparently is executed through some sort of IMEI "unlock flagging" on the Apple servers when you connect to iTunes. I doubt there will be any permanent unlock solution based on this.
