If YOU can jailbreak>activate 1.1.1 then you can downgrade baseband and flash it with 1.02 (3.xx) bb and then unlock it has been reported done confirmed.

you can always simply downgrade your firmware to 1.02 which is realtively easy and then erase bb 4.xx from 1.1.1 and then reflash and unlock it to 3.xx

check out wiki for features and applications confirmed working, many are working fine with it,
so if you are alright while doing it I think its fine but then a gui for 1.1.1 is almost there
    Search before you post

Thanks for your response I really appreciate it.

Unfortunately it doesn't really answer my questions. I am not looking to unlock an iPhone myself but to find out whether it is best to purchase an unlocked 1.0.2 or an unlocked 1.1.1.

Is there anyone who can answer the questions I posted?

    Many Thanks

so base on what u are saying is that You can jailbreak / activate 1.1.1 then downgrade baseband to 1.0.2 while still keeping 1.1.1 formware?
or downgrade baseband to 1.0.2 needs to go with 1.0.2 firmware?

A solution could be a script which changes the files automatic if you connect to your pc. so when you sync you can`t make calls but if you disconect it works. can anyone right a script like that?
