So if you plug in your iPhone in recovery mode to do a restore, iTunes will install 1.1.1 into your iPhone?

You have to choose to do the update yourself, just turn off Automatic Update in Itunes so it won't check online and same for Apple Software Update, and just wait to here the status

Figures...I was going to buy a phone today after work. Perfect timing.

Quick question...can I still do the unlocking procedure or am I screwed because I will need to use the restore feature in iTunes which will want to push firmware 1.1.1?

Doesn't brick. Does re-lock [and returns to jail]. Wipes dashboard plist (but apparently leaves 3rd party Apps on file system).

A few folks claiming rollback to 1.0.2 successful and AnySIM/installer/iNdependence/iBrickr/etc all work again.. can anyone here confirm a rollback w/ simunlock success?

Update 3:45PM: I've tried to activate the unlocked iPhone after the successful firmware upgrade, which is a must before testing if the unlock it is still there. To clarify, the 1.1.1 firmware upgrade works in an unlocked iPhone and it doesn't brick your iPhone. It just updates the firmware and returns it to activation state. However, after applying it, you have to reactivate it in order to test the unlock.

Activation with Independence doesn't work. When it tries to do the jailbreak, I gave it the new location for the firmware 1.1.1. It tried to use this firmware to do the jailbreak, but it fails, putting the iPhone into "Restore" mode (see picture below.)

Update 3:26PM: OK, I have updated to 1.1.1 in my unlocked iPhone. It works. You have to put the AT&T card before starting the firmware update. Video upcoming. Testing of unlock too.
