Default Finding out how my iphone was unlocked

    Hey,

I bought an iPhone off ebay already unlocked and I was wondering if there is a way I could find out which method unlocked my iPhone? Is there a file stored anywhere on the phone after the unlocking process that could identify the method?

It's firmware version is 1.0.2 and I need to figure out how it was unlocked so I can run the virginizer on it when it becomes available. I imagine it will only work on phones unlocked with anySIM?

Before anyone suggests it, I can't get into contact with the ebay seller

    Thanks for your time,

    -Ross

Ok the only way to find out which way your phone was unlocked,
you need to install ssh and other stuff on your phone.
Then you need to run something called minicom (please search for it)

There is a command that you can type in from within minicom and I believe it is :

    AT+XSIMSTATE=1

You should get an answer, if the first numeric after "PN", is a 5 (e.g. 5,0) , that means IPSF was used and your phone cannot be locked anymore.

if you get anything else (e.g. 1,0) it means that anysim was used to unlock.

Carefull though if anysim was used then you have only 2 more unlocking trials before you reach the limit and if you do your phone cannot be unlocked anyfurther with anything but IPSF.

    Good Luck.

Is that true? Does anySIM has a "trial limit"

the older versions of anysim up to 1.0.2 apparantly had some issues as follows:

1 - Messed with your seczone pack (whatever that means). The end result would be a locked phone after upgrading to the new 1.1.1 FW

2 - There is an unlocking trial register buried somewhere in your phone. Each time you attempt to unlock (not activate or jailbreak) it would increase this register by 1. Overall you only have 3 unlocking trials and your phone would be locked forever unless you use IPSF.

For more details go the search option on this forum and type in "reset unlock counter"

You will get a few threads talking about this issue.

Thanks for the reply, I've only just plucked up the courage to try it... my output of AT+XSIMSTATE=1 is:

    AT+XSIMSTATE=1
    +XSIM: 2

    +XLOCK: "PN",4,0,"PU",5,0,"PP",5,0,"PC",5,0,"PS",5,0

    OK

So after the PN my numbers are 4,0... does this mean it was unlocked by anySIM? I'm just confused because you said the unlock limit was 2, so I presumed you couldn't get above 2,0?

    Thanks again,

    -Ross

    4,0 is anysim.
4 means it's Unlocked but Lockable.

    So use the Virginizer.

    My minicom says the following:

    AT+XSIMSTATE=1
    +XSIM: 1

    +XLOCK:
    OK

    What does that mean?????
