Default A few questions on downgrading and the future of install.app...

    Hi,

Firstly I want to apologise for what might be seen as an irritating and unnecessary topic. However, the sheer volume of information on this forum (combined with my relatively low level of understanding on these matters) means that I really am in need of help :p

Basically, I just bought an iPhone from a store in London. Its serial number is xxx43, so I take it I'm not prohibited by the 4.6 version of bootloader? Anyway, I foolishly upgraded to 1.1.2, and am not unable to revert back to 1.1.1.

I have downloaded the 1.1.1 firmware from Apple (have they patched it?). Its full name is:

"iPod1,1_1.1.1_3A110a_Restore" (in the isbw format, don't worry).

When I put the phone into restore mode, and shift+click restore, everything works fine. However, when I choose the firmware and press restore, I get unknown error (5), not the one I'm after. Does anyone know why this might be the case?

    Many thanks indeed,
    jms2007

(P.S: Will install.app / appsnapp eventually work with standard 1.1.2 firmware?)

Once more I wanted to emphasise that I'm sorry I'm posting questions that you've all no doubt answered many times before, but I hope it's not too much hassle for somebody to be of help

    Many thanks again,
    jms

Check that iTunes is 7.5, and that when you DFU nothing is on the screen.
