Downgrading Baseband or is there another solution?
My friend bought an iPhone yesterday (it had 1.1.1 on it originally out of the box) and she asked me to unlock it for her because I have an unlocked phone (1.0.2) The process of unlocking my phone took about 6min if you don't count the time you have to wait for things to flash. So I figured this would be a piece of cake... Boy was I wrong..
So this is what I've done..
I downgraded the firmware to 1.0.2 but the baseband firmware is still showing up as 4.0.
I've tried a bunch of different options like reviginizing the phone but got stuck at the end of the terminal when it indicated that the bbupdater failed to update:
this was the exact message:
ProcessDetailUpdated: Sending end-pack.
ProcessOutlineUpdated: Process time was 2 min 3 sec.
Error: Failed to download .FLS: Could not verify downloaded image.
# ./bbupdater -v
pinging the baseband...
eep version: EEP_VERSION:207
eep revision: EEP_REVISION:7
I need to know where to go from here. Is there another solution to unlock the phone?
I've tried the old way based off of 1.0.2 tutorials and at the end received the message on the phone that "the sim is incorrect".
I'm not sure what to do next, I do not want to downgrade the baseband because I have read that If anything went wrong I could lose the wifi etc.
If I were to update back to 1.1.1 and try the new tutorials would that brick the phone?
Can someone please point me in the right direction? It is my friends phone and she would like it unlocked by her birthday which is tomorrow! Talk about pressure!
Dude. Upgrade it back to 1.1.1 and use CARNAVAL to Jailbreak and Activate. Then you can just run AnySIM 1.1.1 to unlock.
There is no point in downgrading it nor in virginizing it for that matter.
yes actually there is a point to virginizing. You messed up when you typed the firmware file to read from. instead of typing 3.14.08... you could have typed 2.14.08 and you would get that result. You should restart and putty back in and send the commands again and type them correctly.
I used a tutorial and copied and pasted the commands. At what point do I type in 2.14?
I upgraded back to 1.1.1 and then followed the independence guide along with the modmyiphone guides to unlock the phone.
