if you have 1.1.1 out of the box, there is no know way to unlock or activate it yet.. wait for dev team or ipsf.

however, you can downgrade 1.0.2 to activate and get the ipod, wifi fucntions but NO phone function..

Yeah, thanks. Just wanted to see if maybe I missed something and there was a new tweak I hadn't heard of yet.

I held power + home for 10 seconds then released power untill itunes asked for the restore i then select the 1.02 that i have on my desktop which i saved from this post.

It goes through the storing process fails about 4-5 mins later i click ok on the message saying its failed then opened up AppTappInstaller it installs and the yellow triangle remains
i have then gone back to itunes it is still asking for a update ran apptapp again but the iphone would not move off the yellow triangle i have noe restore again back to 1.1.1 = back to sqaure 1 well minus square 1 really

I do not think this works either..... I followed everything and ended the same....

These are the steps I took, which led to no success:
I am an ATT/Cingular customer

1) I had itunes 7.4.3.1 open and my iphone hooked to my computer with version 1.1.1 on it. I am running this on Windows Vista.

2) I help down the power and home buttons for 10 seconds when I then released the power button, but stilll held the home until itunes recognized the phone and then released the home button. The screen was blank on the iphone, but itunes said my phone was in recovery and said to proceed with recovery.

3) I then downloaded the 1.0.2 ipsw file off the first page, I believe. And then changed it to a zip file.

4) I (shift) clicked recovery and it had me choose a file to restore from. I chose the 1.0.2 zip file I had just changed and proceeded. It went thru the whole process until the end and said there was an error (1013). The yellow triangle appeared and then itunes said I had a iphone in recovery. I said ok, but left itunes open.

5) I then ran apptapp installer and it went thru the install process and completed with no errors, however, my iphone did not react at all. I tried to reboot it and it just goes back to the yellow triangle. I tried to re-do evrything using the ipsw file and unzipping and trying the files inside, but no results either way...... I've now had to go back to 1.1.1. PLEASE HELP ME!!! UR MY ONLY HOPE!!!!

Works perfect downgraded last night it took a couple of trys but finally I have at 1.02 and my phone is full of 3rd party apps and looks fantastic. Those of you looking to downgrade from 1.1.1 to 1.02 better do it fast as the links for the zip file are becoming like ghosts on the net do it quick before you cant find the 1.02 file anymore

The yellow triangle is where you wanted to be on the new firmware 1.1.1 there is not a triangle anymore it is a pic uf a uSB cable and an itunes symbol when you had the yellow triangle appear you were almost there you should leave itunes running at that point and run apptap and ignore all errors eventually the phone will reset and you have 1.02 again I had to do it 3 or 4 times before it took just be patient it works once apptap is running it can take up to 4 minutes to finish just give it another try

I tried it multiple times. I get not errors with app tapp. It just installs reall fast and sayscompleted and then nothing happens at all. I tried doing it like 4 times and nothing. So I have no idea what I'm doing wrong that toher people aren't doing.............

dam i did the stupid upgrade to 1.1.1 and now i cant downgrade to 1.0.2 pc version i followed all the steps the part were u hold shift key and press restore is were im stuck at if anyone can help please assist me
